Geometry Chapter 1 1 4 SKETCHING INTERSECTIONS OBJ
Geometry: Chapter 1 1. 4: SKETCHING INTERSECTIONS OBJ: TO CREATE SKETCHES OF AND NAME THE INTERSECTIONS OF GEOMETRIC FIGURES
Intersection of Geometric Figures Intersect: When two figures have any points in common Intersection: The point or points that the figures have in common
Ex: Draw: AB intersecting LF, and name the point of intersection T
Postulates: Intersections of lines and planes The intersection of 2 lines is a __________ The intersection of 2 planes is a __________
Warm-up Draw two lines, line m and line p. Show them with the intersection at point O Objective: TLW reflect personal experiences about their school experiences in an essay format.
Today We will be going to the computer lab. I only checked your rough drafts to see that you have a good start to your essay, I did not read it for content. Make sure that you have met all of the requirements of the rubric. You must be working the entire time down in the computer lab. If you aren’t typing or working you will be asked to find something to work on. Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice. – Wayne Dyer
Warm-up Spend 5 minutes looking over your notes, specifically look at the vocabulary and definitions. Make sure you know the difference between geometric figures Objective: Check for understanding of vocab.
Quiz Answer all the questions, make sure to put your answers in the box on the right There is a word bank at the bottom for the second set of questions When you are finished turn over your quiz
Geometry: Chapter 1 1. 4: SKETCHING INTERSECTIONS
Example: Us the diagram at the right to: 1) Name the intersection of AC and BE 2) Name the intersection of BE and DF 3) Name the intersection of AC and DF
Example: Use the diagram at the right to: 1) Name the intersection of planes S and R 2) intersection of planes R and T 3) Intersection of planes T and S
Sketching Intersections of Lines and Planes Sketch each of the following: 1) A line that is in/on the plane 2) A line that does not intersect the plane 3) A line that intersects the plane at a point
Sketching Intersections of Planes 1) Draw one plane as if you are looking straight at it. Shade the plane. 2) Draw a second plane that is horizontal. Shade the plane a different color. 3) Draw the line of intersection. Use dashed lines to show where one plane is hidden.
Guided Practice
Group Sketches As a group sketch each of the following. A different group member needs to draw each answer. You will be turning in your work as a group so make sure you are contributing to the group. 1) 3 lines that lie in a plane 2) 2 lines that intersect a plane at the same point 3) 2 planes that do not intersect 4) 2 lines that intersect another line but do not intersect each other.
Warm-up Define intersection and coplanar What are you looking forward to this week? Objective: TLW sketch simple figures and their intersections, name points, planes, lines, and intersections. Eighty percent of success is showing up – Woody Allen
Class today Turn in 1. 2 -1. 3 (This was from last week Thursday) 1. 4 Exercises #1 -8, 10 -21, 28, 29, 35 -54 This looks like a lot but you have all hour to work and ask questions
