Genres: Folktale Once there was a boy who tended sheep on the hill beyond the town. Day after day he sat on the ground and watched the sheep eating grass. It was a boring job. So, one day, he thought of a way to make some excitement. “Wolf!” he yelled over and over. The sheep paid no attention, but soon the people from the town came running to help. When the people found no wolf near, they yelled at the shepherd boy. “You should not yell ‘Wolf!’ when there is no wolf. Never do that again!” Later that day, a real wolf came sneaking around the sheep. Again the boy cried, “Wolf!” over and over again. This time no one came to help. The people thought the boy was trying to fool them again.

Every year he grew bigger and bigger. He grew to be taller than the tallest trees and then he became a lumberjack. Paul would shoulder his giant ax and walk a hundred miles in just a couple of steps. Then he would swing that ax and cut down a whole forest of trees with one blow.
