Genesis 1 & 2

Genesis 1 = “The six levels of God’s values in creation”

Genesis 1: 1 -2 “In the beginning, God created the heavens & the earth. ” Out of chaos, emptiness, and unformedness.

The Key = “In the beginning GOD. ” eloheem

Gen 1: 26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. ”

The intent of the author: To introduce us to the CHARACTER / NATURE of the Creator. He is not intending to tell us about HOW God created.

v 3 -5 Day First: God created light & separated light from dark. Named “Day” and “Night” (implying the 24 hr cycle)

v 6 -8 Day Second: God separated above from below. Named above “Heaven”. 2 Cor 12: 2 “I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. ”

v 9 -13 Day Third: God dried ground & created plants. Vegetation, grasses, herbs, fruit trees. All SEED bearing vegetation (every type / species covered).

v 14 -19 Day Fourth: God put 2 great lights in the sky. Sun & moon (& stars). To distinguish “Day” from “Night” (remember back to Day First).

Days: “yome” (plural) root “to be hot” so. . . “sunrise to sunset, or from one sunset to the next” Figuratively: “a space of time defined by an associated term, (often used as adverb): —age, always, chronicals, continually(-ance), daily, birth of, elder, end, for ever(-lasting, -more), full, life, so long as, perpetually, presently, season, since, space, then, (process of) time, as at other times, in trouble, weather, year(-ly), younger. ”

v 20 -23 Day Fifth: God made fish (sea) & birds (“heavens”) instructed them to multiply. (remember back to Day Second).

v 24 -31 Day Sixth: God made animals of the earth. Livestock, beasts all species. Then God made mankind. (remember back to Day Third).

What about “there was evening and there was morning"? evening: awrab (braid): “to intermix; engage, or mingle” morning: bawkar (plough): “to distinguish, break apart, inspect, admire, examine, or consider. ”

“Roses are red, violets are blue sugar is sweet, and you are sweet too. ”

Prov. 30: 18 -19 “ 18 Three things are too wonderful for me; four I do not understand: 19 the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas, and the way of a man with a virgin. ”

Think in the metaphor “humans are like trees”

John 3: 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ”

John 1: 1 -5 “ 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. ”

Gen. 2: 4 -7 “ 4 These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens. 5 When no bush of the field was yet in the land no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, 6 and a mist was going up from the land was watering the whole face of the ground— 7 then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. ”

Before terem : "not yet or before, ere. "

Generations : “account of ancestry; succession; results, proceedings. ”

Jer. 10: 11 -12 “ 11 Thus shall you say to them: “The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens. 12 It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens. ”
