A generalization is a broad statement or rule that applies to many examples. n A clue word such as all, most, always, usually, or generally signals that an author is making a generalization. n Some generalizations are valid, which means that they are supported by facts or details. Some are faulty, which means that they are not supported. n

To practice finding generalizations, read the statements at the top of the slides. Then, see which is the generalization that the statements validate.
