Political System Women only make up a small percentage of elected officials in the United States. There are only a total of 20 female senators out of 100. Women only make up 18 percent of the 535 seats in Congress. Women are always debated upon in the political system.
Work System Women on average earn less than men in every single occupation. The gender wage gap between men and women is 22 percent. Women who are full time workers make only 78 cents for every dollar earned by men.
Sports (Title IX) Access to training and competition in sport has historically been denied to women. Title IX, when established in 1972 made equity for girls and women in sport. Title IX focuses on equal provision of equipment and supplies, practice and gam times, travel, compensation of coaches, publicity, tutoring and other such services.
Why is Gender Discrimination Important? Women should not be penalized because of their gender. Discrimination is something women face in every country. Each woman has the right to have the exact same opportunity as a man.
