Agility n NOT to be confused with flexibility, speed or balance n Agility has some aspects of all three components and some co-ordination n Agility is how a performer can stop, start, turn and change direction as a response to either a flight of a ball, movement of an opponent or command

Balance n Balance is where a performer’s centre of mass is within their base of support n All movement needs a degree of balance, even walking

Co-ordination The interaction of perception (relating to the nervous system) and motor (movement) skill mechanisms n Co-ordination influences the performance of a skill n The perceptual and motor aspects of complex skills are often co-ordinated more easily if the skill is learned in small parts n Co-ordination can be improved with practice n
Co-ordination Test n Ball Throw Test
Speed of Reaction n This involves 2 processes: – Reaction time (time between initial stimulus and response) – Movement Time (time between response and completion of movement)

Timing n Timing is the ability of a performer to start or complete skills or movements at the correct time n DO NOT confuse timing with coordination n E. g. forward defensive shot in cricket is only successful with good timing
