3 Components • Devising – 40% of GCSE (practical focus) • Performance from Text - 20% (practical focus) • Theatre makers in practice – 40% (written examination, 1 hour 30 minutes)

Component 1 (40%) Progress • All devised pieces complete and performed in y 10 • Majority of written portfolios complete Catch up available after half term for completion and improvement. Drama teacher will follow this up. Will all be completed by Easter.

Component Two (20%) Performance from Text Friday 16 March, 2018 • Students prepare two extracts from a text provided by the teacher

Script practice / rehearsal • Students work in class where teacher ‘butterflies’ between groups in support. Students regularly share completed scenes in class. • Students must be off script by half term – we are impressed this year! – for support to be most meaningful. • Scripts available now for families to support line learning at home • Opportunity for a run through over half term with me

Component Three (40%) Theatre makers in practice Final written exam Friday 18 May, 2018 8 weeks after the scripted performance • Section A – bringing texts to life – The Crucible • Section B – Live theatre evaluation Saint George and the Dragon (3 students - Of Mice and Men)

Section A ‘The Crucible’ – 45 marks Section B St George / Mice and men – 15 marks
