TAKING OF BODY MEASUREMENTS
OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson the students should be able to: identify the parts of the body to be measured demonstrate on how to take body measurements correctly value the importance of taking of body measurements
THE BODY MEASUREMENTS ARE:
Figure back 1. Vertical- vertical measurement is taken from the top going down.
Figure front
Length of blouse
Length of sleeves
Bust height
2. Horizontal- measurements are taken from the left to right. Shoulder
Bust distance
Front chest
Back chest/width
3. Circumferential- Circumference measurement is taken around the body. Bust measurement
Waist measurement
Hip 1
Hip 2
Armhole
Arm girth
Materials needed: Model Tape measure
Notebook/paper Pencil
Procedure in Vertical Measurements 1. Figure Back. Taken from the nape down the waist of the back
2. Figure Front. Taken from the neck point passing over the bust down the waist.
3. Bust Height. Taken from the neck pint down to the highest point of the
4. Length of Blouse. Taken from the nape down to the desired length.
5. Length of Sleeve. Taken from the shoulder point down to the desired length.
6. Length of Skirt. Taken from the point down to the desired length.
Procedure in Horizontal Measurement 1. Shoulder. Taken from the left going to the right side.
2. Bust Distance. Taken from nipple to nipple.
3. Front Chest. Taken beside the armpit to the other
4. Back Width. Taken beside the armpit to the other armpit at the back.
Procedure Circumferential Measurements 1. Bust. Taken around the fullest part of the bust and slightly higher at the
2. Waist. Taken around the smallest part of the torso.
3. Hip. First hip is taken 4 inches from the waist. Place the tape measure around the

5. Armhole. Taken around the shoulder going to the armpit back to the shoulder.
6. Arm Girth. Taken around the arm.
