Galileo’s full name was Galileo Galilei, he was an Italian scientist and scholar. He was born on February 15, 1564 in Florence, Italy he was also a mathematics professor he made big observations of nature with long lasting implications. He made a telescope that helped support the Copernican Theory (a sun-centered solar system). Galileo was accused twice of heresy by his own church. Galileo was the first of the six children from Vincenzo Galilei a well known musician and music theorist. In 1583 Galileo entered the university of Pisa to study medicine, he was a talented an intelligent student he became very interested in math and physics. Later on he went to the University of Padua as a teacher teaching geometry mechanics and astronomy. However Galileo was threatened with torture based on his belief of the Copernican Theory, through all this Galileo was respected and was never imprisoned but that did not hold its word, later Galileo was convicted of heresy and had house arrest. Galileo died near Florence, Italy January 8, 1642 from a fever and heart problems. At the time near his death the Church could not deny the truth in science. In 1758 the ban was lifted of creating works on supporting the Copernican Theory.

Did you Know? • Galileo was said to have dropped two cannon balls of different masses from the leaning tower of Pisa to demonstrate that their speed of descent was independent of their mass. Many people believe this story to be untrue since its only source was Galileo’s secretary. • In the last year of his life, when he was totally blind, Galileo designed an escapement mechanism for a pendulum clock called Galileo’s escapement. • The middle finger of Galileo’s right hand has been exhibited at the Museum Galileo in Florence, Italy.

Process Paper We chose this project subject because we are highly interested in sciencerelated information. We searched online for reliable sources and paraphrased them to fit the slide. We chose to do a website because for boards you have to buy tons of supplies and I'm not into that. This relates to theme because it was on the list for subjects.
