FY 08 Optical Fiber Link Components Continuation Optoelectronics
FY 08 Optical Fiber Link Components (Continuation - Optoelectronics) Description: FY 08 Plans: This task will provide information on parts characterization, guidance on usage, implementation and lessons learned information to the application engineer in the area of fiber optics and photonics devices. Application information will be tailored for the usage and design of flight systems to maximize the development of such systems in a reliable fashion. All information gathered from NEPP tasks as well as other flight projects including ELC, LRO, ISS, MSL, and IRAD work will be used towards this goal of providing useful and practical guidance for flight fiber optic and photonics subsystem hardware builds. Schedule/Costs: Task Cost = $---- + CS • COTS component evaluation and guidelines reports based on current space flight qualification tests ongoing for flight missions for optical assemblies, optical fiber based transmission components. • Continue research on the enhanced radiation extrapolation model, validate the f factor dependence on temperature. • Formulate the baseline for a space flight database for photonic components work with ESA/CNES to accomplish this. • Conduct radiation database study for summary report. • Complete radiation test report and data analysis on amplifier fiber. Deliverables: 1. 2. 3. 4. Lead Center/PI: Melanie N. Ott Co-Is: Center Funding: GSFC CS FTEs =. 25 Evaluation report on optical fiber components.
