Uses 1. An action in the future that has been planned or prepared. I am going to visit my grandparents next week. Tomorrow, we are going to watch a movie. After taking a nap, he’s going to go for a walk.
Uses 2. A conclusion regarding the immediate future. An expectation. I can see dark snow clouds. It is going to snow again soon. John missed the train. He is going to be late.
“gonna” Native English speakers often say “gonna”. We use “gonna” /gənə/ instead of going to in informal contexts, especially in speaking and in song lyrics. Example: I’m hungry. I’m gonna have a sandwich. I’m hungry. I’m going to have a sandwich. “gonna” = going to Important: “gonna” is NOT good English. It is very informal. Spoken English only. Do NOT write it! It is very common. You will hear it a lot!
