What is a Future Land Use Map? A future land use map is the town’s visual guide to future planning. It graphically depicts the Town’s goals for its built and natural environment. The map is meant to: Provide policies on development patterns, land uses, densities, and intensity of development; Identify where future development should occur; Identify areas for preservation and protection due to environmental and other concerns; Create a framework for decision making; and, Encourage coordination of decisions and actions so that development projects complement rather than detract from one another
