Futur simple l l Used to express events or facts that will occur in a week, month or year (I shall or I will) Futur proche on the other hand will only apply to events or facts that will happen soon (within the day or the next few days)

Endings l l l l We use the endings of the verb avoir for all verb conjugations of futur simple (regular and irregular) JE – ai TU – as IL/ELLE/ON – a NOUS – ons VOUS – ez ILS/ELLES - ont

Conjugating the futur simple l l To conjugate a verb in the futur simple, you take the infinitive form (the –ER, -IR or RE) of the verb and add the endings on For –RE verbs, you must drop the “e” before adding the endings

ER: Aimer – to like l l l J’aimerai Tu aimeras Il/Elle aimera Nous aimerons Vous aimerez Ils/Elles aimeront

IR: Finir – to finish l l l Je finirai Tu finiras Il/Elle finira Nous finirons Vous finirez Ils/Elles finiront

Spelling changes l l Acheter (to buy): j’achèterai Appeler (to call): j’appellerai Jeter (to throw): je jetterai Lever (to rise/lift): je lèverai

Irregular verbs l l l They will use the same endings as the irregulars Each irregular has a root that you will need to know The endings will be added to the root to conjugate the verb
