Challenge 1 “ The job” The Job: Compete to win! As a Co 2

Challenge 1 “ The job” The Job: Compete to win! As a Co 2 dragster racer, you are challenged to design a dragster that meets competition specifications and is best designed to meet the variety of forces that affect motion and velocity when racing at fast speeds. The Co 2 dragster with the fastest design takes the title of champion. Just how fast do Co 2 dragsters travel? Dragsters can race at speeds over 70 MPH, and dragsters can run the track in under 1 second. As you design your dragster, weight, wind drag, and impact are all factors that will influence dragster performance. Testing and refining your design before cutting your part is critical to increasing your chance for success. You have just one go at cutting your blank, and it takes a while to cut smooth surfaces. Use Fusion 360 CAD/CAM software to design and to test as many factors as possible, improving your design for the highest chances for success. © 2017 Autodesk

Challenge 2 “ Make it your own” Make it your own: Create a manual 4 th axis fixture. Work as team in your shop to design and create a manual 4 th axis fixture that indexes every 90 degrees, allowing you and your shop mates to cut and machine all four sides of your car if necessary. © 2017 Autodesk

Sustainable design: Green Materials Selection Green Materials Basics When considering the environmental properties of materials, look for materials that are abundant, non-toxic, have low embodied energy, and meet or exceed regulations. You also need to ensure that the material has the right physical properties to get the job done and that it won’t drive up costs. © 2017 Autodesk
