BIOGRAPHY. Fusajiro Yamauchi was born on November 22 nd in 1859 in Japan. He was a businessman who founded Nintendo. He used to live in Kyoto and had a daughter named Tei Yamauchi who married Sekiryo Kaneda and had a son called Kimi Yamauchi. In 1889 he started his business with the name of Nintendo Koppai. In 1929 Fusajiro retired and then died in 1940.
HISTORY OF NINTENDO. In 1889 Fusajiro Yamauchi founded a company called Nintendo Koppai and began developing a card game called Hanafuda, which was a popular game at the time, but he wanted it to have images instead of numbres due to a ban on all foreign games that encouraged gambling. The game had an unexpected success in Japan and the rest of the world. After that, the company grew rapidly and opened many factories and stores in Kyoto
HISTORY OF NINTENDO. The company only made hanafuda cards until Yamauchi’s death in 1940. After his death, his grandson, Hiroshi Yamauchi, became the president of the company. Hiroshi began with the development of other manufacturing games and changed the company’s name to Nintendo. In 1975 Nintendo began developing videogames, but it wasn’t until 1980 that the company spread to the world with sucessful games like Donkey Kong and its video game consoles.
