Joint Venture Research Projects • Procedure: Bilateral call – based • Step 1: Announcement of prioritized areas with the foreign country • Step 2: Agreement between a Professor from Iranian university and a Professor from foreign country • Step 3: Decision made in the Steering committee, evaluation and confirmation • Step 4: Providing Financial supporting of mobility programmes; approximately € 10, 000 - € 30, 000 from each side
Joint Venture Research Projects Example 1: Impulse Iran-Austria • Based on a mutual interest to considerably improve knowledge exchange on an international level and to strengthen the international profile of the institutions involved.

AD-Gmb. H, in charge administering all relevant programme procedures. of
Joint Venture Research Projects Example 2: Jondishapoor Fund • Call- Based Funds • Designed to promote collaborations among Iranian and French researchers and faculty members in a variety of fields including ‘humanities’, ‘social science’, ‘life science’, ‘agriculture’ and ‘environment’. • 15 annual projects each year • Supports; mobility of researchers • approximately € 5, 000 from each side • Center for International Scientific Studies and French Embassy in Tehran are involve in day to day contact
Invited Collaborative Research Program (ICRP) • Improves the quality of research, by facilitating international scientific collaboration between Iranian and foreign researchers at universities and research centers • Concentrates on disciplines ranging from ‘Basic Sciences’ to ‘Social Sciences’ and ‘Art’. • The prominent international researchers are invited to travel to Iran for a specific period of time, to engage in collaborative research projects with Iranian scholars.
Invited Collaborative Research Program (ICRP) • Non- Called Funds • Prioritized projects are those that can lead to: • Human and institutional capacity building in S&T through collaborative research; innovation-led economic growth; • University-industry partnership; • Knowledge exchange on issues that concern Middle Eastern and Islamic societies; • Capacity-building and improved dialogue between Iranian and non-Iranian scholars through various joint projects with partners both at the regional level and worldwide. • Centre for International Studies and Scientific Cooperation (CISSC), affiliated to the MSRT is in charge of ICRP in Iran.
International Cooperation in Applied Research Development (ICARD) • Aims to: Funds for brain circulation • Cultivate research-based collaborations among Iranian nationals residing & working overseas and those in the country, through inviting distinguished Iranian elites to travel to Iran - Provide opportunities for sabbatical leaves for faculty members - Duration: several days-weeks- months
Joint Venture Research Projects • Non- Called Funds • Latest updates: • Currently 243 projects are approved with: • Austria • France • Germany • India • Italy • Pakistan • South Africa • Step 1: Agreement between a Professor from Iranian university and a Professor from foreign country and confirmation by University. • Step 2: Decision made in the Steering committee, evaluation and confirmation in CISC
Scholarship Fund • 1500 -2000 international students to study in I. R. Iran (Degree scholarship) • 1500 – 2000 Ph. D students annually to study abroad. Duration: 6 -9 months • Procedure: Iranian universities should introduced the applicant (Ph. D student) to the MSRT • Receive acceptance letter from a foreign university • Supported by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology; approximately € 1, 200 for each month •
International Cooperation in Educational Development (ICED) • Aims to: • Financially support • Foster teaching-based collaborations among Iranian scholars & researchers residing & working overseas and those in the country, through inviting those abroad to teach to Iranian universities • Teaching duration: typically last up to six weeks.
In conclusion • There are several Funding bodies in the I. R. Iran; • These funds are available for Research, Education and Technology developments; • Many of these funds body are allocate to internal bodies and organizations; • MSRT is the main body that provides international funding; • MSRT welcomes co-funded Joint venture project with Germany!
