Weqbuest – writing a research/survey report This Web-Quest is designed form 3 students to grasp the concept of report writing. As report writing is a very important skill in day to day activities of any given office. ie Have you ever gone for a trip ie academic and the teacher asked for a report Been to the lab done an experiment and teacher asks for a report A report is an account of events , processes and experience. They are important in administrative purposes, they assist in making decisions based on issues that are real and believable. Some reports are always about science, people, events and actions in a given environment at a specific time.
Introduction Have you ever experienced a problem in school and when you report it the principal. she orders you to write a report. what did you write? Let's share our answers?
Task Highlight briefly what you discussed with your friends
Task Brainstorm your ideas Write your answers down on a piece of loose leaf paper. Join the group you are assigned to. Discuss your answers with your peers. Let’s make a concept map of our answers with the class beginning with title, introduction, data collection, findings, conclusion and recommendations

Task On the laptop assigned to you group, answer the group work guiding questions.
Process You will be joining a small groups to share what you have written. Each group will receive a copy of a report. As a group, read the report and discuss the parts. Each group has a copy book or a Manilla paper and pencils or markers, and together you will write out the parts of this report and illustrate the sequence of the report by drawing a concept map. Each group will share their copy book/ manila chart with the class, your classmates will ask questions.

Guiding questions Investigate and answer the questions: What is a report? What are the parts of a report? What is expected to be done in each part? Assume that your are writing a report on water shortage in your school carry out aresearch on the internet and in the school on causes of water shortage Give solutions to some the causes identified Use a book and pen to write your report as an individual

Lesson using minimal technology: In this lesson the teacher will place the questions on the laptop and the projection board For the report project the students will join peers in groups and illustrate the final report on a manila chart or copy book
Teacher Introduction of webquest A. Present on Power. Point: " What is a report? B. Have the students think quietly and write answers down on their own piece of paper. C. Instruct students to break into small groups to share what they have written. D. Give each group a copy of a report – same report or different report from syllabus E. Have them as a group read the report and discus the parts of a report. F. Give the students guiding questions to assist the group on Power. Point G. Give different groups a manila paper and markers, or a laptop or a copybook and together have them write out the parts of this report along with mind maps and illustrations. Have each group share their poster boards with the class, ask the to not just read the poster, but why they chose the parts of the report that they chose. Allow the students to ask questions.
