Full Day Kindergarten Here We Come! www. bristol. k 12. ct. us 7000 (860) 584 - School Starts August 27 th Getting Ready *If you have not registered your child for kindergarten, please go to your neighborhood school. Check the Bristol BOE website or local newspaper for bus stop locations and times. Each school will hold an Orientation for Kindergarten students and their parents. Come see the classroom and meet classmates. A nametag will be provided for your child. Please have your child wear this daily for the first week of school. Suggested school supplies: � Large Backpack � Art smock � Snack Bag � Lunch Bag � Sneakers � Change of clothes q Let the excitement begin! Student drop off areas are designated at each school. In the interest of safety, parents are asked to remain outside the building once students proceed inside. Communication is an integral part of the home/school connection. Teachers will be communicating regularly with families. Please feel free to contact your child’s school at any time with questions or concerns. Open House dates and times will be determined by individual school. These will occur in September. Kindergarten Program Components: � Arrival/Morning Meeting � Reading Workshop � Snack � Language Block � Math � Science/Social Studies � Writing Workshop � Lunch/Recess � Specials – PE (twice each week), Art and Music (once each week) � Quiet Time � Center Time � Closing Period Homework will be assigned for a minimum of 45 minutes per week to reinforce skills learned at school. Reading at least 10 minutes should occur daily.
