FUENTES DE ENERGÍA RENOVABLES ENERGÍA EÓLICA: En el pasado se utilizó la energía eólica para mover barcos de vela y molinos de viento. Hoy en día se utilizan para producir energía eléctrica. ENERGÍA SOLAR: Los paneles solares toman la energía del sol y la utilizan para calentar el agua, la calefacción y generar electricidad. LA ENERGÍA DE AGUA: Es la segunda fuente más utilizada en el mundo. GEOTÉRMICA: Tiene su origen en la energía térmica de la tierra. Esta energía puede ser utilizada para calentar o producir electricidad. BIOMASA: Este es el término para la energía obtenida tanto de la madera y de microorganismos. La biomasa se utiliza para la fabricación de biogás.

RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES • WIND POWER: In the past these power stations were used to run windmills and sailing ships, but now they are used to produce electric power. • SOLAR POWER: Solar panels take energy from the sun and they use it to heat water, for heating and to produce power • WATER POWER: It is the second most used source of energy in the world. • GEOTERMAL ENERGY: It has its source in earth thermal energy. This energy can be used for heating or producing electricity • BIOMASS: This is the term for energy from both wood and microorganisms. Biomass is used for producing and burning biogas.

Centrales hidroeléctricas Hydroelectric power plants • Las centrales hidroeléctricas utilizan la energía de las caídas de agua para producir electricidad. • Hydroelectric power plants use the power of waterfalls to produce electricity.

Naturaleza Enviroment • La energía producida por las centrales hidroeléctricas es renovable, pero las centrales hidroeléctricas ponen en peligro la flora y la fauna de los ríos. • Energy that is produced by hydroelectric power plants is renewable but hydroelectric power plants endanger the flora and fauna of rivers.

The sun is a gigant nuclear reactor formed by Hydrogen and Helium that comes to the Earth to generate electricity and to produce heat. It can be realized in two ways: Ø by “high thermal temperature conversion” Ø by “photovoltaic conversion” The solar energy is really important and essential, because the sun can satisfy all our needs. •

Wind power La energía eólica • Wind power production is rapidly increasing in the world due to their environmental and financial advantages • It tranforms the wind turbine blades’s rotational energy to electricity • Although 50 countries have wind turbines, most of the improvements are due to only a few countries • La producción de energía eólica está aumentando rápidamente en el mundo debido a sus ventajas ambientales y económicas • Las aspas de los molinos mueven una turbina y transforman la energía eólica en eléctrica. • Aunque 50 países tienen molinos eólicos, sólo unos cuantos países la aprovechan de forma eficaz.

ENERGÍA GEOTÉRMICA/BIOMASA GEOTHERMAL ENERGY/BIOMASS Se obtiene haciendo agujeros que alcanzan aguas subterráneas naturalmente calientes. La energía geotérmica no causa ninguna destrucción ambiental. Sus recursos son locales, por lo que se puede obtener cerca del sitio de uso. La desventaja de la energía de la Tierra es su baja disponibilidad. Geothermal energy is obtained by making bore holes that reach naturally heated underground waters. Its resources are local, so it can be obtained near the site of use. The disadvantage of the energy of the Earth is its small availability. La biomasa es la fuente de energía renovable más utilizada. Incluye residuos de alimentos de nuestras casas. La biomasa es una manera barata de calentar un edificio. El uso de la biomasa nos permite gestionar los residuos y hacer uso de las tierras no usadas. Biomass is the most commonly used renewable source of energy. It includes food waste from our homes. Biomass is a cheap way to heat up a building. Using biomass allows us to manage waste and make use of wastelands.

Impacto ambiental/ Environmental impact • Las fuentes renovables son buenas para el medio ambiente, porque no alteran el equilibrio natural. • Renewable sources are good for the environment, because the energy comes from a source which can always give a new power supply. • A pesar de esto, la producción de energía renovable , produce impacto visual. • In spite of this, the production of renewable energy is harmful to the environment.
