What is FTP? �File Transfer Protocol �standard network protocol �protocol that allows users to copy and transfer files from one computer to another over a TCP computer network or the Internet. (e. g. : Windows – Linux, PC – PC) �FTP uses the Internet's TCP/IP protocols to enable data transfer. �simplest way to exchange files between computers on the Internet.

How Does FTP works? • FTP works on the principal of a client/server. • Transferring files from a client computer to a server computer is called "uploading" and transferring from a server to a client is "downloading". • A client program enables the user to interact with a server in order to access information and services on the server computer. Files that can be transferred are stored on computers called FTP servers.
