What is the FSA? THE FSA IS AN ASSESSMENT TO DETERMINE STUDENT MASTERY OF

What is the FSA? THE FSA IS AN ASSESSMENT TO DETERMINE STUDENT MASTERY OF STANDARDS TAUGHT THAT INCLUDES MORE THAN JUST MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS. STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO RESPOND TO MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS, AS WELL AS WRITE AND RESPOND IN MULTIPLE WAYS THAT ARE DIFFERENT THAN ON OTHER TRADITIONAL TESTS. THE FSA WILL PREPARE FLORIDA STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS IN COLLEGE, CAREER, AND IN LIFE BY EMPHASIZING ANALYTICAL THINKING. MEETS HIGH QUALITY STANDARDS FOR ASSESSMENT, INCLUDING RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY FOR A VARIETY OF ACCOUNTABILITY PURPOSES. EMPHASIZING CRITICAL THINKING

FSA ELA Writing April 1 st 2019 Students will be required to respond to an opinion OR informative writing prompt. The writing component will be paper based. Students will be expected to read several passages associated with the prompt. Then plan, write, revise and edit with in that 120 minute time period. Students must demonstrate the ability to pull evidence from the text to support their writing. The student will earn a score in three areas: Purpose, Focus, and Organization (4 points) Evidence and Elaboration (4 points) Conventions of Standard English (2 points)

All Students-please leave all electronic devices at home Don’t forget eyeglasses, if applicable Bring a sweater or light jacket in case room is chilly Encourage your child to relax and do his/her very best on the test.
