From Chaos to Collaboration FRED FRANKO – CDLE – WORKFORCE EDUCATION COORDINATOR STEVE WRIGHT – CDLE – GOVERNOR’S SUMMER JOB HUNT PEARL BELL – CDHS – STATE YOUTH PLAN JENNY SMITH – DENVER OPPORTUNITY YOUTH INITIATIVE
Big Questions…. . Creating awareness and beginning a conversation How do we create a “system of systems”? Where is the overlap, where are the partnerships? How do we bring to bear all of these things for the benefit of young adults How do we link them?
Simple but so Complicated Approached by CDE Opportunity Youth Model from DYC/CDE Outcomes were education focused Target was youth coming out of corrections Wanted to add a workforce component and pilot state-wide
New and Creative Approaches to Problem Solving We needed to take a step back. Look at the bigger picture. Who is this for? How might we create more overlap? How might we create more awareness? How might we be more inclusive and deliberate? Human centered design model
Programmatic Focus or Customer Focus We’re all doing these things that are programmatically focused. Are we thinking about where the overlap is and where the potential for partnerships are? Are we thinking about our customer needs?
Populations We Are Serving We have as many descriptors of youth as we do programs. Workforce – Out of School Youth Roll Call – What do you call your target population?
Panel Perspective Talk about your: Initiatives Population Partners Who’s missing?
Audience Perspective Talk about your: Initiatives Population Partners Who’s missing?
Carrying It Forward The State Youth Council Natural avenue: all youth; comprehensive partnerships; alignment of initiatives WIOA cross agency training Ensure that we are deliberate and capturing voices from partner agencies Eligibility Desk Aid WIOA focused tool; other tools/resources necessary?
