Adjectives An adjective is a describing word. They describe the noun or pronoun in a sentence. The red ball fell onto the floor, which was wet.
Similes Sometimes, it helps to compare what you’re talking about with something else, using as or like. These are called similes. as quiet as a mouse arms like tree trunks
Similes We can use similes to help paint more colourful ‘word pictures’. Have a go! We want to say something is smelly. Think of something that smells bad. Now write it as a smile. as smelly a dirty sock
Your Turn! Now, try one on your own. Use a simile in a sentence to say that a girl is funny. Think of funny things that you can compare it with. The young girl was as funny as a clown.
