WP 1: Phenotyping for traits relevant to resilient fruit system production Task 1. 1 Evaluation of plant response to biotic and abiotic stresses in germplasm collection Partner Biotic stress Abiotic stress UMIL Scoring for disease severity after artificial inoculation (Toffolatti et al. 2016, 2018) for downy mildew resistant traits. Greenhouse evaluation and field evaluation (not the first year). Leaf/canopy temperature with high-resolution thermal camera (Bianchi et al. 2019) for water stress resistance. Greenhouse evaluation at different soil water content from 80 to 20%. ARC In vitro evaluation of salinity resistance, measuring at different concentrations of sodium chloride, # of dead plants, plant size, root development and mineral composition will be determined by a flame photometer and/or ICP-MS.
