Motivation • Because a PDU only contains one fragmentation, the length information of fragmentation is implicitly indicated by the length field of generic MAC header and can be omitted in fragmentation extended header. • The fragmentation extended header and packing extended header shall be designed separately because the packing extended header must contain a length field. • Therefore, we propose a fragmentation extended header.

Example of Short Fragmentation Extended header without ARQ • FC (fragmentation control): FC indicates the fragment state. • Fragmentation sequence number (FSN): FSN indicates the fragmentation sequence number of MSDU when ARQ is not enabled and Extended Type bit is not set.

Example of Long Fragmentation Extended header without ARQ • FC (fragmentation control): FC indicates the fragment state. • Fragmentation sequence number (FSN): FSN indicates the fragmentation sequence number of MSDU when ARQ is not enabled and Extended Type bit is set.

Example of Long Fragmentation Extended header with ARQ • FC (fragmentation control): FC indicates the fragment state. • Block sequence number (BSN) : BSN indicates the ARQ block sequence number when ARQ is enabled.
