The Problem That Started It All… The problem was… You have 2 pizzas and 6 friends (that includes you). You have to divide the pizza equally. How will you do this? What fraction of pizza will each person get?
The Answer to the Problem… The answer I got was… *Each person should get 1/3 of a pizza. *I am about to show you how I solved this…
How I Solved the Problem… The first thing I did was draw 2 rectangles (representing the pizzas). Then I drew six people/stick people/dots. Then, I figured out how many people would go in each pizza by*… Pizza 1 Pizza 2 People * I’m doing this so I can figure out how many people would share each pizza. ‘Putting a person in a pizza’ is basically just saying how many people will share each pizza.
More of How I Solved This… … dividing them! I took the people and put one in one rectangle, another in another. Another one in one rectangle, and so on until had done that to all my people (I have 6 people/dots). I figured out that 3 people share each pizza because there were 3 people in each rectangle (or 3 people per rectangle). Pizza 1 = 1 person Pizza 2

Divide each rectangle into the number of people there are per pizza (that means that you divide the pizza into the number of people there are). So in this case, I divided a rectangle into 3 parts, so each person would get 1/3 of a pizza. Pizza 1 Pizza 2
