What are Fractions? There are 3 types of fractions: improper fractions, proper fractions and mixed fractions. All fractions are greater than or less than one and are always written with a fraction bar, or the numbers can be written next to each other, separated by a slash. Fractions can be transferred to decimals or percents through division.
What are Decimals? Decimals are divided fractions based on place value and powers of ten. There are 5 types of decimals: fractional decimals, repeating decimals, irrational decimals, zero decimals, and mixed decimals. Decimals can be used with money and percentage.
What are Percents? Percents are numbers out of 100. Percents can be greater than 1, greater than 100 and less than one. When percents are written in fraction form, they are written out of 100 no matter what. But when percents are written in decimal form, they always have a decimal and 2 zeroes after them if they are percents less than one. When percents are between 1 and 100 and have no decimal spaces. When they are greater than 100, it's written as a whole number first, then, the decimal will be shifted back twice.
Numerator & Denominator • The numerator is the number above the fraction bar or before the fraction bar. The numerator is in purple. • The denominator is the number below or after the fraction bar. The denominator is in indigo. 1/2
What are Improper Fractions? Improper fractions are fractions that contain numerators greater than there denominators. These fractions can become mixed fractions with division.
