Predictions A prediction is what you think will happen based upon the text, the author, and your background knowledge. A prediction is a guess as to what will happen. Use clues from stories along with what you know from your own experiences to figure out what is going to happen next.

What is the difference between Prediction and Inference? • When you make a prediction

What is the difference between Prediction and Inference? • When you make a prediction it will be answered by the end of the story. • Predicting focuses on what will happen in the story while inferences focus on what a character will do, how he/she is feeling, or making other judgments. • An inference may or may not be answered by the end of the story.
