Forming a Question 1. To change a statement to a question, place the subject after the verb. If a subject is not expressed, only the tone of voice indicates that the speaker is asking a question. In writing, this is shown by the two question marks ( ¿…? ) 2. The “helping” verbs do, does, am, are and is are not expressed in Spanish. 3. Sometimes the subject is placed at the end of the sentence if the question is short. This is often done if the short question has a comparatively “long” subject consisting of several words or syllables.
