Vision and Mission Statements • VISION: Expedite environmental restoration for the reuse of Former Naval Weapons Station Concord • MISSION: Fast-track remediation of former Naval Weapons Station Concord to promote reuse and protect human health and the environment by working cooperatively with the regulatory agencies, the community, and the stakeholders 3 BRAC Program Management Office

Installation Restoration (IR) Program Sites • A total of 13 sites currently being investigated

Installation Restoration (IR) Program Sites • A total of 13 sites currently being investigated as part of the Naval Weapons Station Concord IR Program • Sites are in various phases of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) Process • Goal is to reach the point in the process where the sites are environmentally suitable for transfer 4 BRAC Program Management Office

IR Program Sites – SMWU Sites • Site is approximately 8 acres • The Solid Waste Management Units (SMWUs) included industrial facilities such as a fire station, a locomotive repair shop, a locomotive and railcar steam-cleaning facility, a metal shop, a welding shop, a forge shop, automotive repair shop, and a paint shop • The selected remedial action (RA) was air sparging, soil-vapor extraction and institutional controls • Cleanup goals for groundwater have been met 21 BRAC Program Management Office
