Find 10 images of couples, celebrities or noncelebrities, that can be rated from 1 -10 for attractiveness. 2. Create a data collection sheet for your participants to complete. 3. Prepare for the ethics committee in your group.
Make sure that you. . . • Complete remaining tasks from last lesson: • Create standardised instructions ▫ Explain what ppts will do ▫ Ensure you include a check of understanding. • Create a consent form. ▫ There are two main sections of a consent form: �A brief account of what students will do in the study �A description of their ethical rights • Create a standardised debrief • Conduct research into Murstein, Walster et al. and 1 -2 other studies.
Method • Find images of 10 married couples ▫ Males on one sheet ▫ Females on a second sheet • Copy and paste the web address for every image you find into your references section. • Create a data collection sheet that can be given to each of your 50 participants (e. g. age, gender, location, student or not etc) • Prepare for the ethics committee ▫ See next slide
Ethics Committee • You’ve now conducted your background research. Before you go any further you need to attend a meeting with the Ethical Committee. • In order to prepare for the meeting you need: ▫ ▫ A consent form Standardised instructions Details of the method you will use A copy of the introduction in order for the board to read
