A Brief Background on Child prostitution in India is made up of the children from the poor cities across India and the trafficked children that are brought into and throughout India. There about 1. 2 million children participating in prostitution.

The Problem The laws set in place to protect children are loosely written and therefore poorly executed. � The children that grow up in the Red Light Districts, are exposed to a world of prostitution that is later expected of them. �

Continue Human traffickers are able to take advantage of the loosely set laws regarding the protection of children form sexual abuse. � In desperation for money, parents sell their children to agents who promise a bright future. �

Proposal In 2013, an alternative report by ECPAT and SANLAAP gave several suggestions regarding the use of children for prostitution through local and trafficking levels. � Revision of 2012 Sexual Offense Act and the revision of Section 370 of the Indian Penal Code. �

Why is the Best Option? Unlike the other proposals I found, this proposal is recent. � It calls for revision of laws that are already set in place for the protection of children. The groups that support these proposals work with both government and nongovernment groups. � Not only does it call for revision, but also for monitoring process of victimized children. �
