Pressure Force that is acting on unit area of a surface is called force. Pressure = Force/Area Unit of force is N/m 2. For a same magnitude of force, pressure increases with decrease in surface area and pressure decreases with increase in surfcace area. Eg : A force of 100 N is applying on a surface of area 10 m 2 and on a surface of area 25 m 2. In first case pressure is 10 N/m 2 In second case pressure is 4 N/m 2
Pressure and daily life

Some facts Objects having sharp ends penetrate more faster than objects having blunt ends. When area of the surface is high, pressure will be less. Straps of bags are thick to reduce pressure. Objects edges. used for cutting are provided with sharp
Liquid pressure Pressure exerted by liquids towards the wall of the containers is called liquid pressure. Liquid pressure increases with increase in depth. Maximum liquid pressure is exerted at the bottom of the container. At same heights, liquid pressure will be same. At diffrent heights, liquid pressure will be different.
Liquid exert equal pressure at equal depths Take a bottle. Make two holes of same size at same height. Keep the holes closed by fingers. Fill water in the bootle. Remove the fingers simultaneously. You can see water is moving out with same force.
Liquid exerts unequal pressure at different depths
Atmospheric Pressure exterted by the gases of the atmosphere towards the surface of earth is called atmospheric pressure. When we up, atmospheric pressure get decreased. we move down, atmospheric pressure get increased.
