Learning At Home … • • • How have mealtimes changed during lockdown? Who chooses the food that your family eats? Have you been preparing more meals/ helping out in the kitchen more? Plan your shopping list and prepare some family meals using the Eatwell Plate? What do you notice?

Buying food, then throwing it out is not only a waste of money, it also hurts the environment. By making a few small changes, we have a great opportunity to make a difference on this issue every day.

How could you reduce food waste? Make a family commitment! Plan ahead together. Buy what you need. Try new foods! Keep track of what you've bought and used. Make smoothies and soups to use food up. Start a compost area. Grow your own food. Think of your own ideas!

Lockdown taste challenge … try some new foods and describe them…. For example…. less familiar fruit and vegetables, sardines, olives, food that someone else in your family loves/ dislikes……
Top tips … • You might need to try new foods up to 15 times before you decide if you like it! • It’s ok to like different foods to your friends and family. • Be adventurous … you might discover a new taste you love. • Eat with friends and family. • Try growing your own food at home or at school. • Get involved in cooking and preparing your food.
