Our three basic needs *We need food, (water), clothing, and shelter in order to live/survive *Without F C S we would be hungry, have little to wear and would live in poor housing *Our needs being met is possible because of agriculture *The United States is #1 in agriculture because of our land technology *We only have to spend about 10% of our income on food. Other countries spend 30 -50%

Necessities � � � Food is necessary for nutrition that our bodies need and our bodily functions to work Clothing is necessary to cover our bodies, protect and shield Shelter is necessary to protect us from the elements

Beyond Farming Agriculture goes beyond food and clothing. . Includes other areas that make our lives better *Ornamental horticulture-producing plants for their beauty *Natural resources- all things found in nature. Ex: living organisms, minerals, soil, water and air *Companion and small animals-also called pets, improve the lives of their owners -owners must feed, provide a good environment and good health
