WHERE IS DUBROVNIK GCH? 1
LONG TRADITION, “SHORT” MEMORY
TANGIBLE, BUT “INVISIBLE”
DESK RESEARCH
FIELD RESEARCH
MULTIMEDIA EDIBLE EXHIBITION 1. aside from the basic information on each interviewee, the exhibition CITY BREADWINNERS will emphasize the territorial complexity of the former Republic of Dubrovnik (the map), its particularities and common grounds with other cultures, and special attention will be paid to the language component (the local vernacular terminology relating to the production); 2. From an anthropological perspective, the audience's attention is to be directed to the FACES of the interviewees, what will encourage a direct relationship and acquaintance with the people who feed us, and the establishment of a long-term relationship of trust and mutual respect; 3. The exhibition aims to entice the consideration of the dignity of the food producers, their image and position in the contemporary society and its dynamics; 4. Slow Food is food with a face, which means food we know the origin of, as well as the manner and place of production, and as such it has become the motto of our pilot action;
NEW LIFE, “NEW” CONTENT
LONG TERM EFFECTS - We expect practical steps from the administration when it comes to preservation and valorisation of gastro-cultural heritage (GCH); - We expect greater presence of Dubrovnik GCH in the local guides’ sightseeing tours, local restaurant dishes, local shop windows; - It is to be expected that the local community will show greater interest in this heritage and the corresponding research area; - The exhibition will be made available to all interested museums and institutions which would like to host it; - Numerous high-value historic facilities could get new, appropriate content; - However, the most important effect of the exhibition would definitely be affiliation of the local actors in the world of food into a functional system where primarily local producers would have their well-deserved place, and local food production would see its revival and empowerment.
