FOOD ALLERGENS ABSORB ACTIVITY
Rachel celebrated her 15 th birthday with her family at a fancy restaurant. As soon as Rachel had her first bite of the Criminally Chocolate Cake, she noticed a painful lump growing on her tongue. Her face started swelling and her throat started constricting. She was suddenly having trouble breathing. Rachel was having an allergic reaction to peanuts. They were accidentally added to the cake when an employee forgot to remove their gloves after working with crushed peanuts. Luckily, her family recognized these symptoms and were able to give her an epi -pen injection. She was immediately rushed to the hospital afterwards, and later sent home with a clean bill of health.
Not all stories end happily like Rachel’s.
