Folk Rock � � The folk rock genre varies in many different ways. This genre of 60’s music is very broad. Folk rock includes a variety of traditional & regional music. There is a lot of bits and pieces of other genres tied into folk rock. It’s a clean, harmonized approach on electric instruments. Folk rock had a positive impact on culture of the 60’s. It fostered anti-war and emphasized freedom and environmental respect. Also, christian youth put folk rock music to use in there workshops & retreats to inspire faith and commitment. The Facts � � � Folk rock genre originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the mid 60’s. Bob Dylan had a performance on july 25, 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival which was considered a moment in the development of Folk Rock. Things associated with folk rock includes American working struggles, civil rights and Vietnam war. People would gather in coffee shops and sing about there everyday concerns in life.
