Key Parameters • 2014 -2019 time horizon • Summary will fit on one page and total plan will be no more than 10 pages • Not intended to cover every aspect of the college • Instead, the purpose is to create a Vision for the next 5 years and to document the key strategic priorities - - the areas of biggest increased emphasis (“Ramp Ups” vs. current path) • Continuous improvement is the philosophy for the on-going aspects of the college not discussed in the plan • Significant input will be sought from internal and external stakeholders
Strategic Planning Process • Starts with request for input for SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) from key internal and external stakeholders: Ø Ø Ø Faculty and staff Student representatives College’s Board of Advisors Key alumni, major donors, and key central administrators Business and community leaders • “Listening Sessions” to be held on each of the key strategic priorities • Draft of goals and initiatives developed and presented to departments, advisory boards, external stakeholders
Timing of Strategic Planning Process • Starting now, with SWOT input in October • Strategic priorities determined late October/early November • “Listening Sessions” and other feedback on key priorities solicited in November • Major initiatives identified in November • Draft plan developed by late November • Feedback on draft plan solicited in late November/December • Plan finalized early January • Faculty Vote on plan in late January
