OVERVIEW OF THE ELA FSA

SAMPLE TEST ANSWERS: ELA This item require a multiple choice response. A student will only select one answer choice. As you can see, these questions look similar on both formats of the test. Paper-Based Computer-Based
SAMPLE TEST ANSWERS: ELA Paper-Based Here is another multiple choice response question. A student will only select one answer choice (sentence). Computer-Based To complete this multiple choice response on the computer version, however, the students will need to use the highlighter option.

INFORMATIVE/EXPLANATORY PROMPTS • Informative/explanatory writing prompts- Students will be required to synthesize and analyze ideas from the stimuli to develop and support a controlling idea • Prompt has clear topical connection, but may address diverse concepts/ideas
OPINION/ARGUMENTATIVE PROMPTS • Opinion/argumentative writing prompts- Students will be required to synthesize and analyze ideas from the stimuli to present and support an opinion (Grades 4 -5) or to argue and support a claim (Grades 6 -11) • Prompts should present opposing points of view • Texts provided should equally represent each point of view so students can take either side of position
