What is FSA? q“As many Floridians are aware, our state has been in a period of transition as we have made important decisions to improve our education system and raise the bar for our schools, educators and students. ” q The FSA in Mathematics and English Language Arts were approved by the Florida State Board of Education in February 2014. q. FSA assessments will provide information regarding how well all schools and students are learning the Florida standards.

Students fill in bubbles to indicate which sentences are correct. q Editing Task Choice- Students fill in a bubble to indicate the correct number, word, or phrase that should replace a blank. q Multi-Select Response- more than 1 possible answer q Matching Item Response q Equation Editor/ Gridded Response- The student fills in bubbles indicating numbers and mathematical symbols to create a response. Students respond in response grids in which they write their answer in the boxes at the top of the grid, then fill in the corresponding bubble underneath each box.

Test Specifications for Writing & Reading • Students in Grades 5– 10 will take the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) English Language Arts (ELA) Reading test. ▪ • There are two sessions for FSA ELA Reading; you will complete the sessions over TWO days. ▪ • Grades 6– 8 students will have 85 minutes for each session. ▪ *The FSA ELA Writing Component Test is comprised of ONE , 90 -minute session. However, students may have an additional 30 minutes to complete their work, if needed.

Test Taking Tips v Practice test materials allow teachers, parents/guardians, and students to become familiar with the various item types that will be encountered on the FSA, as well as the system, functionality and tools on FSA computerbased tests. Computer-based and paper-based practice tests for each assessment, paper-based test item practice handouts, and guided tutorials for responding to items on grades 3– 6 paper-based tests are available on the FSA Portal Practice Test Page. https: //fsassessments. org/students-and-families/practice-tests/index. stml v On the website you will find questions for multiple grade levels as well as the answer keys for each test. v Students will be required to participate in a training test session at their school prior to testing.
