Florida Journeys Common Core

Why Journeys? Journeys build a deep understanding of key domains and topics within a single lesson, across a grade, and across the program. Each lesson features a domain and topic that tie the week’s text selections together.

And…. Lesson-specific topics approach each domain in a grade-appropriate way.

The Three Components of Journeys At the Lesson Level Across a Grade Across a Program

At the Lesson Level Within a lesson, domain and topic are Introduced just before reading the lesson’s anchor text

At the Lesson Level Within a lesson, the domain and topic are Supported across the lesson through cross-curricular teaching notes at point of use during the reading

At the Lesson Level Within a lesson, the domain and topic are Expanded on later in the week using another text that complements the anchor text.

At the Lesson Level Within a lesson, the domain and topic are Extended with domain-specific vocabulary and through text-based Research and Speaking & Listening activities
