Maps are used to show the distribution of K-12 public school students throughout the state. Data used to create this presentation was provided by the Florida Department of Education Office of K-12 School Choice.

Number of Charter Schools This map provides information on the number of charter schools in each Florida school district during the 2015 -16 school year. Overall, there were 652 charter schools in the state of Florida. Approximately 9% of public school students were enrolled in a charter school. Student Diversity The maps below provide information for the 2014 – 15 school year. The map on the left provides information on the percentage of traditional public school students who were classified as minorities in each school district. The map on the right provides information on the percentage of charter school students who were classified as minorities in each school district. Approximately 59% of all traditional public school students in the state of Florida were classified as minorities. Of traditional public school students in districts with charter schools, 60% of students were classified as minorities and 66% of charter school students were classified as minorities. The map on the left provides information on the percentage of traditional public school students eligible for free or reduced price lunch in each school district. The map on the right provides information on the percentage of charter school students eligible in each school district. Approximately 62% of all traditional public school students in the state of Florida were eligible. Of traditional public school students in districts with charter schools, 62% were eligible and 48% of charter school students were eligible. The map on the right illustrates the percentage of charter school students classified as SWD in each school district. Approximately 14% of all traditional public school students in the state of Florida were classified as SWD. Of traditional public school students in districts with charter schools, 14% were classified as SWD and 9% of charter school students were classified as SWD.
