ROEHL TRANSPORT Objectives • Ensure each fleet management teammate is qualified to engage in these conversations • Ensure each fleet management teammate engages in these conversations in a timely manner based on a driver’s performance • Technical Competency – Safety • Technical Fluency – Safety

ROEHL TRANSPORT Specific Areas of Focus • • • Following distance, Distracted driving (phone in hand, food, music, etc. ), Assess and assure (low speed, off road maneuvering), Assess and assure (on road, lean and look), Fluency in “know what’s happening” • particularly eye lead time – typically found in speeding, missed exit/turn, missed scale, failed to obey traffic control device, etc. • The minimum is based on the FM coach being able to review at least 1 of each of these types of driver coaching calls:
ROEHL TRANSPORT Expectations for coaching sessions • The fleet manager selects the calls and submits • The fleet manager evaluates themselves first. • The coach asks the manager to identify: • What they did well. • What they want to improve on. • A strategy or plan to ensure they make the agreed-on improvement. • The coach provides positive and developmental feedback to the FM, modeling the communication behaviors we expect the FM to perform when coaching a driver. • (Interaction Guidelines, Key Principles, STAR – STAR/AR) • The coach incorporates cultural touchstones as appropriate – values, Practices, etc. – into their feedback. • The FM documents their area(s) for improvement and forwards it to the coach for use during the next coaching session.
