Fitness for Purpose Adam Andrade To Health With It' is a documentary made by Kings Key Production focusing on health and fitness and how people can change their health lifestyle and why. It follows a brief in which we were given, from the Borough of Redbridge, the assignment states that the project should be a 10 clip based on education the youth on a problem of our choice. We researched into different popular documentaries based on health and fitness before deciding to create our social action project, and found that it was one of the five issues the people of the Borough face. We planned our production by creating a script and a storyboard in which we followed (to the most part) throughout our video. We hoped to make our target audience aware about the issues of when it comes to their body and diet but in still entertaining them so the project wasn't boring causing them to lose interest. We hoped that would help us get our message out. So, by posting our social action project onto youtube, and hopefully being aired on the news, we have successfully created the template for shocking our audience. This also match theory of Stanley Cohen, he believed that by creating a moral panic, you are able to convey a message to the audience by sending society into "Mass Hysteria". The message is often conveyed through the media, such as news and television.

Secondly, for our content to shock the audience we thought it was important to explain the actual facts about health and fitness such as calorie intakes of popular ‘junk’ foods eaten everyday, we hoped this would make people think about what they were eating. We did this by doing a lot of research on the foods we decided to film with such as a burger from Mcdonalds, KFC snack box and Oreo Krushem and a seven inch Margherita Pizza. We had looked up their ingredients and calorie intake individually and wrote it as part of the script and have a whole scene talking about them. This way the audience are more aware of what they are consuming and we hoped people would then try to prevent this taking more precaution. We also wanted to show a visual representation on what happens to different individuals when they do not take care of their health and what kind of mood swings they can get. So I had come up with the idea of a fictional character to tell the story. Showing the moods and actions of the character when eating bad compared to eating good healthy foods. Also this would show the advantages of keeping a healthy diet, motivating the audience. We also interviewed a real-life professional coach at a professional coaching environment. We created a sense of motivation and inspiration, emphasising the lifestyle that the fictional character went through. The audience are more likely to feel guilty and/or motivated after watching the video, keeping the topic in their mind and so wanting to make a change.

We believe we successfully impacted the audience through interviews with the people of the borough revealing how in common most people are and how in a sense they all suffer with the same problems of unhealthy eating, making them want to listen about fitness in the area and what they do to keep healthy. Hearing facts from the public is more likely to make the audience listen and understand what they are saying. A psychologist named Milgram, looked into the effects of uniform on obedience levels during a condition of his experiment, and found that when the role of the experimenter (who was the authoritative figure during the study) was taken over by an ‘ordinary member of the public’ (a confederate) in everyday clothes rather than a lab coat, the obedience level dropped to 20%. Realising that this would be a good step for us connecting with our audience, the group and I agreed to do an interview with an authoritative figure who is a professional PE trainer (at King Solomon High School), so he could explain to the audience how ‘health’ and ‘fitness’ is becoming an issue in the local area. Therefore, the audience are more likely to have been impacted as the information has come from someone believable and not from just someone random.

Another way in which I believe we impacted the audience was through the use

Another way in which I believe we impacted the audience was through the use of music. By using motivational, popular fitness songs at the appropriate time, it stresses to the audience the mood of the character and what they should be feeling at the time. It gives the documentary an andrenalic and inspiring atmosphere, helping emphasise to the audience the hype and attitude they should be feeling towards the characters and story. Overall, I believe we successfully impacted the audience through our social action project. Furthermore, I think that our documentary meets the brief, as we do not stray from our topic, and we keep to a professional and serious standard.

Camerawork: The opening introduction of the documentary begins with a series of establishing shots

Camerawork: The opening introduction of the documentary begins with a series of establishing shots and long shots with montages of popular food places that fill up Barkingside high street, instantly setting the scene for the audience that helps them to understand where the documentary is set. The first establishing shot is a long shot of Barkingside high street, showing cars passing by. It then cuts to a close up of a star on a tree zooming out to a long shot of myself, giving an introduction on what the audience see and hear next. The star on the tree also symbolises that it’s christmas time which means people often act lazy and eat a lot during the holidays. The entire interview of the documentary (mid-shots) is made of cutaways to different interviews in order to establish the setting for the audience and perhaps suggest the type of people that redbridge is. It also helps us in a way that the audience understand that from asking one questions, I get different responses from different people who are answering the same question. This is great as the audience enjoy the interviews smoothly rather than the interviewer repeating the same questions. Lastly, the mid-shots help not just present facial expressions but body language as well. There were good long shots taken for the fictional character as well. For example, the scene where my character ran into the kitchen as he was late. This was important as it shows the audience how the fictional character is dressed to prove he’s in a hurry as his uniform is not neat but looks rough. Compared to the ‘good morning’ of my fictional the long shots in comparison helped as in the scene the difference in body language and uniform is presented making our message clear.
