FIRST HOME The Garden of Eden God said, “I want Adam and Eve to

FIRST HOME The Garden of Eden God said, “I want Adam and Eve to have the most wonderful home. I will make for them a garden-home—a beautiful paradise. ” So “The Lord God planted a garden, eastward in Eden, ” the home of the first man and woman. The garden had every kind of tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The animals were not wild or ferocious, but tame and gentle, and Adam and Eve had no fear of them. God made all the animals pass by Adam, and Adam called each animal by a name, “You’re an elephant, you’re a tiger, a turtle, a penguin, ” and so on. Adam had to be very intelligent to do that! God told Adam, “I have given you plants and fruit trees for your food. ” The vines, bushes, and trees were loaded with good things to eat. No home has ever been as glorious as this garden-home that the Lord planted for Adam and Eve. God was pleased with His creation. He blessed Adam and Eve and told them to multiply and fill the earth. God meant that they were to have children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other descendants. After a while, the earth would be filled with people. Adam and Eve did not have to work or earn a living. They were completely happy; they had no pain, sickness, or sorrow. They didn’t get tired or worn out, and they never fussed at each other.

CHILDREN OF ADAM AND EVE CAIN, ABEL, SETH & OTHER SONS & DAUGHTERS (Gen.

CHILDREN OF ADAM AND EVE CAIN, ABEL, SETH & OTHER SONS & DAUGHTERS (Gen. 4: 1, 2, 25, 5: 4) Cain and Abel were the first children ever born on earth. As Cain and Abel grew older, Adam and Eve told them about the great Creator-God. The boys learned of their parents’ beautiful, perfect garden-home, and their happiness there as they walked and talked with God face to face. They were also told of God’s enemy, Satan, and how he entered the serpent and tempted them to disobey God. How sad to have to explain to their sons how they had failed God’s test and thus sin had entered into the world and ruined everything. Review After sin came into the hearts of Adam and Eve and caused God to shut them out of their beautiful garden-home, they built a home for themselves outside the garden. They may have lived in a cave, or tent made of skins. Life was very hard now. Adam and Eve began to realize more and more what the punishment of their sin had brought upon them. Adam had to work long and hard at farming to try to get enough food for himself and Eve. The ground was filled with weeds, thorns, and briers. Adam had to make his own tools to plow and till the soil. There were bugs and insects to fight, too. In the heat of the sun, it was certainly true that Adam had to “struggle to earn his living by the sweat of his brow. ” Every day Eve was also learning the meaning of sadness, pain, sorrow, and heartache. But the punishment that they felt worst of all was that God no longer came in the cool of the day to walk and talk with them. Sin had made a wall of separation between God and them. How many times Adam and Eve must have wished they had not disobeyed God. O course, God still loved Adam and Even as we disobey our parents and have to be punished, our parents hate our sin of disobedience, yet they dearly love us and are so happy when we tell them we are sorry.

True or False Was life very hard for them out of the Garden? Could Adam and Eve still walk and talk with God in the cool of the day? Who were the first children ever born on earth? Did they learn about the beautiful garden home from their parents? Did they also learn of God’s enemy, Satan, and how he tempted them to disobey God?

THE FIRST MURDERED CAIN Cain looked in horror at his brother’s lifeless body on

THE FIRST MURDERED CAIN Cain looked in horror at his brother’s lifeless body on the ground. He was terrified and said, “Oh, look what I have done; I’ve killed him! I’ve got to get out of here quick before God and my parents find out what I have done. I must run far away!” That’s exactly what Adam and Eve had tried to do, hide from God and cover up their sin. But no matter what we do or where we go, we cannot get away from God’s all-seeing eye. So as Cain ran across the field, God called to him, “Cain, Cain. ” Looking up and shielding his eyes, Cain said, “Yes? ” God said, “Where is Abel, your brother? ” Cain replied, “I don’t know, ” thinking he could fool God. Then in a flippant, sassy way he said, “Am I my brother’s keeper? ” He meant, am I my brother’s nursemaid or baby sitter? He was irreverent and disrespectful to God. Imagine speaking like that to a holy, just God! The Lord said, “Cain, what have you done? You have killed your brother, Abel, and now I will have to punish you! You must leave home and your family, From now on you will be a fugitive and a tramp, forever running for your life; you can never settle down anywhere. You will just wander from place to place. ” “My punishment is greater than I can bear; it’s too hard!” cried Cain. “You have driven me from my farm and from You, and made me a runaway and a tramp; and everyone who sees me will try to kill me!” Cain felt very, very guilty! The Lord replied, “They won’t kill you, because I will put a special mark on you as a warning that you are not to be killed. Also that mark will always remind you and all who meet you that the results of sin will follow you where you go. ” We can learn a valuable lesson from this. One sin always leads to another sin until they just pile up. Cain disobeyed God by bringing the kind of offering he wanted to: he thought he could come to God his own way. Then he got mad and pouted and refused to come to God the right way. Next he killed Abel and lied to God about it. Instead of admitting his sin and being sorry, he was “sassy” to God. As far as we know, Cain never repented of his sin, because the Bible says, “Cain went out from the presence of the Lord. ” That is one of the saddest statement in all the God’s Word. Cain is a picture of all who try to come to the Father some other way than through Jesus. Some people today say, “God will accept me if I try to do good, live right, help the poor, go to church, and do the best I can. ” No, that is man’s way to try to get to heaven. To be accepted by God into heaven, we have to come His way. Jesus says, “No man comes to the Father but by Me. ” Many will have to banished from the presence of the Lord forever and ever, because they will not accept Jesus as their Savior.

THE FIRST MUDERER A. Adam B. Eve C. Cain 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Did Cain try to run away? Can we ever run away from God’s all-seeing eye? Did Cain lie to God? Was Cain sassy to God? Did the Lord punish Cain? Does one sin always leads to another sin? To be accepted by God into heaven, do we have to come His way? Is Jesus the way to the father?
