First Grade Welcome, Students and Parents!

Drop-off and dismissal Students go to the cafeteria as they arrive in the morning. Afternoon pick up is outside. Do not take a student out of the car line. Wait until seated. Do not take a student out of bus line, unless you have told office. · Please make sure that we have a note if your child is going home in a different way than usual.

Snacks at 10: 10 ish · Go Foods: Pretzels, Goldfish, Cheese and Crackers, Peanut Butter and Crackers, Fruit/Vegetable, Granola Bars, Breakfast foods such as dry cereal, pop-tarts · No Foods: Sweets, Cookies, Candy, Cake, Donuts

Science 90% of work will be hands on and recorded in Science Notebook, therefore very few science papers will go home.

Homework · Read 20 minutes daily · Grid Homework will be sent home on Monday. Students choose 3 assignments. Return completed work on Friday in their Homework Spiral and their Reading Log. · Homework Club

HERE ON TIME · School starts at 7: 35 A. M. · If a student is not in the classroom by 7: 40, please have them check in at the office before coming to class.

Grading · First graders will receive a traditional report card with numeric grades rather than the checklist they received in Kinder. · Grades will be given in Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. · Failing grades on assignments can be brought up to a 70 after being retaught with the teacher

Conduct · Conduct is tracked through Class Dojo. “Reminder points” and “Needs work” points indicate minor issues in class. More serious issues will result in contact through Dojo or by phone. · On the report card (per 9 weeks): E = 0 -5 contacts S = 6 -12 contacts N = 13 -18 contacts U = 19+ contacts

Afternoon Dismissal · Please remember to send a note if your child will be going home a different way than the usual. · If they do not bring a note we are required to send them home in the usual way. · Please notify the office if change is made during the school day.
