Homework and Newsletter Jan. 22 nd – Jan 26 th A note from the teachers… It is hard to believe we are celebrating our 100 th day of school this week! Through the process of charting their progress in data folders, our students are really understanding how much they have already grown in this time! We are very proud of them! This week we are focusing on reading and writing words that have r-controlled vowels. These are words that have an r following short vowel sounds. The r causes the vowel to stay short but changes the overall sound. These can be difficult sounds for them to tell apart so we encourage them to practice reading and writing these words at home as well. We are starting an informative writing project all about ourselves! In Math, we are continuing our unit on place value. Our focus on the number 100 this week is allowing for some great opportunities to strengthen place value skills. Just a reminder that the 100 th day t-shirt is due on Thursday, January 25 th. As always, thank you for trusting us with your wonderful kids! Sincerely, Mrs. Swartz and Mrs. Watson. • • 22 nd- Upcoming Events: January SARSEF night in the cafeteria-6: 30 pm January 25 th-100 th day of school (please wear 100 th day t-shirts) January 26 th-Spirit Assembly (Wear “science” attire) February 6 th-8 th- early dismissal for Spring Conferences February 9 th- Galaxy Gala-special person’s dance 6 -8 pm PTO fundraiser February 13 th- Bugz musical for K-1 students at 6: 30 pm February 22 nd-23 rd- Rodeo Break No School Star Students: Jaxon is always kind to all and has been working hard on completing his work on time.
