„Fine feathers make fine birds – the art of self-presentation. ”
Yes, we can!
The first rule of effective selfpresentation: I do not disturb yourself. Ø I speak clearly and loud enough, at the right pace, not too fast but also not too slow; Ø I remain the visual contact with the recipients and if possible, try to establish interaction with them; Ø Communication is effective when the recipient not only hears the message but he also responds to it; Ø Remember to remove communication obstacles such as ex. the phone ringing or noise.
The second rule of effective selfpresentation: proper preparing of the presentation. Ø I know what I want to say and accordingly I choose the content for my speech and take care to present it clearly, brief and in an interesting way; Ø I know how to say what I want. A key element of self-presentation is to communicate with the environment in a way understandable for the recipient. It is important to whom I will talk and what forms of communication I will use.
The third rule of effective selfpresentation: communication is not only words but also the language of gestures, facial expressions and body postures. Ø Communication runs through many channels. People are mostly attached to words and it is on them they often focus their attention during preparing their self-presentations. However words which are not supported by gestures and mimicry or body posture often lose their importance. Nonverbal communication channels such as: facial expressions, gestures, body posture, tone of voice can strengthen the message when they are consistent with it or weaken it if it is uncontrolled.
