OPIOID SAFETY COALITIONS IN OTHER COUNTIES • Operating in 36 of 58 CA counties • Led by counties, medical societies, law enforcement, or health educators • As opposed to non-coalition counties, those counties have • Lower opioid prescribing rates • Greater access to medically-assisted treatment, including Buprenorphine • Greater access to Naloxone

OTHER WORK OF OPIOID SAFETY COALITIONS • Expanding support services for addiction treatment • Vallejo Drug Court has no in-county residential treatment • Educating healthcare & social service professionals in integrating care • Public education • Websites • Pharmacist education on safely dispensing opioids & Naloxone • Expanding Rx take back options • Eight counties now support use of pharmacies
